If you think about it, though, Taylor was just a convenient excuse for what I readily could have accomplished on my own accord (as could most women I know). We’re masters of morphing what’s not about us into something that is about us, even when it doesn’t serve us. It’s easy to look in the mirror (or at our work, or at our parenting, or at our home . . .) and unwittingly magnify our shortcomings instead of celebrating our strengths. We’re a society obsessed with focusing on our flaws instead of honoring our humanness. That just doesn’t seem like the most satisfying approach to life.
